Carpenters, electricians and other trades men were encouraged to get involved during construction phase of the project. Once the Minigrids become operational most indigenes stated how re-fridgeration of fish would provide better preservation, so they are not forced to sell or smoke them.

The provision shop owners talked about the acquisition of fridges and the selling of cold drinks, electrical gadgets and the ability to open stalls for longer periods. The teachers among the respondents talked about side businesses such as photocopying, being able to use the computer to aid in their teaching and possibility of doing night classes.

While the youth talked about the drastic change they expect on the island in terms of nightlife. Admittedly when I probed further on business ideas that the energy could be used for, they were pensive.
